CIRCULAR 0-2-4
FITTING OF OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT AND/OR
MODIFICATIONS TO ROAD VEHICLES
- The purpose of this circular is to remind
Identification Plate Approval (IPA) holders of their obligations under the
Motor Vehicle Standards Act 1989 regarding optional equipment and/or
modifications offered for the vehicles they supply to the Australian market.
- The presence of an identification plate on a
vehicle at first registration is an assurance by the IPA holder that the
vehicle complies with the relevant Australian Design Rules (ADRs).
- To ensure compliance with section 13A of the Motor
Vehicle Standards Act 1989, IPA holders must ensure that any optional
equipment and/or modifications they offer for their vehicles, either as
original equipment or for aftermarket fitting, do not invalidate
compliance with any of the applicable ADRs.
