INTERPRETATIONS
|
Interpretation No 1 |
(Appendix A, Annex 1, Clause 5.2.5) |
Question: Should the speed of the vehicle at each
nominated test speed be taken as the speed indicated by the speedometer, or the
true speed as measured by the calibrated instrument?
Answer: The nominated test speed (V1) of the vehicle shall be the speed
as indicated on the speedometer. The true speed (V2) shall be read from the calibrated
instrument.
Example: If V1 = 80 km/h, then the vehicle’s
speedometer at the time of the test must indicate 80 km/h (+/- the tolerance as
indicated below in Interpretation 2).

Interpretation No 2 |
(Appendix A, Annex 1, Clause 5.2.5) |
Question: What tolerance on the nominated test
speed (V1) is acceptable for the indicated speed of the vehicle
during the test?
Answer: The vehicle must be driven at the test
speed +/- 2 km/h. Therefore, if the nominated speed is 80 km/h, it is
acceptable that the indicated speed of the test vehicle be within the range of
78 to 82 km/h during the test. The indicated speed read from the speedometer
shall be recorded to the nearest whole km/h. The true speed shall be recorded
to a precision of one decimal place.
